Cajal Academy is the world’s first school specifically designed to meet the needs of kids with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and other complex, chronic medical conditions. Our exclusive “Zebras” program is embedded within a broader school for students in grades K-12 who have very high analytical reasoning skills, paired with an area of learning, social-emotional, physio and chronic medical conditions.

Our first-of-its-kind program offers a whole new way to learn, designed by our licensed therapists based on current neuroscientific understandings. Program highlights include:

  • Facilities designed to meet the needs of medically complex kids

  • Coaching in how to self-monitor, self-manage and self-advocate for complex medical needs within educational environments;

  • Neuro- and Trauma-informed social-emotional approach putting scientific understandings about the impact of neurophysiology on learning and social behavior at the heart of our social-emotional learning and “behavior” management approach

  • Occupational, physical, cranialsacral, psychological, speech and language and neuropsychological therapies integrated into the school

  • Standards-based, college-prep curriculum, tailored for their unique learning profiles

  • Collaborate with one another to solve real world problems

  • Training in how to optimize connections between “how we’re wired” and our learning and social-emotional outcomes

  • Learn about their unique profiles, and strategies they can use to self-monitor, self-manage and self-advocate for their needs

  • Learn project-management and self-regulation skills they can use to thrive independently in college and beyond

  • Join a diverse community of bright and intellectually-gifted kids

Students are welcome to attend. Please RSVP below to let us know that you’re coming—we look forward to meeting you!
