Join us on Zoom to learn about our unique program empowering teens to independently optimize their own learning, social and emotional outcomes!

Cajal Academy is a new school in Fairfield County, CT providing highly-customized, innovative educational programs that focus on developing the critical thinking, executive function and collaborative skill that kids with very high analytical and fluid reasoning skills need to develop their potential, through new educational approaches that better align to modern neuroscientific understandings.

We are inviting a select number of teens who would benefit from stimulating, project-based learning within a small and nurturing environment to join us in fall, 2021, including teens who have complex learning profiles with ADHD, learning differences, anxiety, motor coordination challenges, sensory processing disorders and other special needs.

Key elements of our program include:

  • standards-based academics through multi-disciplinary deep dives into real world problems, using project-based learning to develop the critical thinking, social and executive function skills that are essential to 21st century professional success;

  • small group, discussion-based instruction with integrated executive function coaching, preparing kids to thrive in seminar-style college learning environments;

  • unique, “Human 101” curriculum empowering kids to gain agency over their own experiences by teaching the life sciences behind executive function, self-regulation, learning processes and more, fostering an authentic growth mindset for kids with high critical thinking skills;

  • highly-individualized, data-driven programs that build up low-lying neurocognitive skills to address—not just accommodate—learning differences and complex profiles;

  • a unique, tight-knit community of kids who “get it,” with opportunities to mentor and teach younger learners as a way to build leadership skills and confidence

  • integrated OT, PT, counseling, executive function coaching and social skills development from PhD-level psychologist and neuropsychologist so kids are free to be kids after school

  • parent workshops and events to share the science of how kids’ hidden neurophysiological events impact their life-lived experiences

  • “school within a school” for kids with connective tissue disorders, dysautonomia, mast cell activation syndrome and other complex chronic medical conditions that have variable impacts on a child’s availability for learning, social and emotional experiences.
