12-3 pm

Pay by the session; come to one or join them all!

Join other gifted and twice exceptional students and our experienced teachers and licensed therapists for an immersive afternoon drop off program at Cajal Academy!

Sign up for a Wednesday Workshop, or join them all! Each week we will do a new, mini project-based learning unit, developing executive function and peer collaboration skills through our unique approach. Students will work together to solve real world problems developed by our current students and staff and learn how they can use movement to accelerate academic learning while better organizing their thinking, with data-driven support from our expert, on-staff team of educators, occupational and physical therapists and neuropsychologist. All programs will include opportunities to build connection with other bright, gifted and twice exceptional kids, supported by our staff of educators and therapists who are experienced supporting this complex cohort’s social-emotional needs.

Like all Cajal Academy programs, our Workshop Wednesdays are open to students who have high analytical reasoning and/or creative thinking skills. This includes students who have learning, social-emotional, neurophysiological and/or chronic medical conditions. All students must be motivated by a desire to be part of a community, although they may need support to do so effectively. Cajal Academy is not an appropriate setting for students who are aggressive towards staff or peers, or who have a recent history of elopement. You can review our admissions criteria here. All students who are new to Cajal Academy must submit an online application; this requirement will be waived for all students who have been admitted into a Cajal Academy academic year or summer program in the past 18 months.

While your student is at Cajal for the afternoon, we have a limited number of parent workspaces available for rent in the building on a first-come-first-served-basis for an additional fee, and we encourage parents to meet up at a restaurant around the corner for connection and community.

All Wednesday Workshops are run by our experienced educators and licensed therapists, including OT, PT and a recognized neuropsychologist/psychologist, who will be working with the students in the program throughout the afternoon, within a group setting. The fee to attend is $175 per workshop, or $165 per workshop if you sign up for 3 or more. This includes all material costs.

Cajal Academy is an innovative private school for bright and gifted students in Norwalk, Connecticut. We have made a break-through for the field of special education, with a research-backed approach that reduces or even removes learning and in some cases social-emotional disabilities that have previously been thought to be “immutable” by rewiring the neural infrastructure the child uses to perform that task. We are Connecticut’s only school for twice exceptional students, and are accessible by train from New York City to New Haven to Danbury and points in between.
